Pashmere has been a dream of mine since I was like twelve. I went to
college and studied Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design. After graduating,
I worked everywhere from Cato's to Versace and learned a lot about retail,
but I still was not sure. I moved to California and lived with my Aunt
and Uncle which was a great experience. I then moved to Scottsdale, AZ
which was a fabulous place and I will forever love it there.
BUT, when I moved back to Atlanta where most of my friends and family
are, I realized that it was time to start diving into my own creation.
And so the journey started.
The name did not start out as Pashmere, I was going back and forth with
a few different names but none of them really stuck with me or felt entirely
right. THEN on New Year's Eve of 2005, a group of my friends and I were
playing Battle of the Sexes and one of the questions was "what is
a Pashmina made of?"... The Answer is "PASHMERE" and that
is how the name was born.
My name is Stephanie and I am the owner of Pashmere but I have to credit
Mike Blain with the hysterical answer to a question that started the evolution
of Pashmere! It is hard to go through the steps after this as there were
so many, but I would like to take the time to personally thank a few people
that I could not have done this without.
I would like to thank:
- First and foremost my Mom and Dad who have believed in me since I
was twelve.
- My Aunt and Uncle whom I lived with in California for taking good
care of me while I was out there.
- My two sisters whom are my best friends and probably (other than my
Mom and Dad) my biggest supporters.
- My friend Robin Thirsk whom took the time out of her days to help
me with my Business Plan.
- My friend Becky who has listened to me talk about this dream for years
and years and has always been a fabulous friend.
- Tara for letting me crash at her house in Chicago days after her and
her husband moved in. And to her (she will model my clothes someday)
hahahaha.
- Last but not least to my best friend and confidante, Mike Blain; you
are incredible in every way. Thank you for believing in me no matter
what!
Also, a special thank you to Patrick Busko and everyone at Gene Kansas
Developments for all their hard work and help. To ai3 for coming up with
an amazing design for the store. To Jason Currie at Alpine Website Solutions,
the mastermind and creative talent behind this whole website. And to Lori
Harber: Congrats and I better see you in the store soon.
I have realized in this adventure that I know and have met a lot of wonderful
people and I hope to continue meeting more. So to anyone and everyone
that had a part in making Pashmere a reality, I say THANK YOU SO VERY
MUCH!!!
